Vintage Airstream Getaway

Back in May to celebrate our 7th dating anniversary, Jack and I escaped the wedding planning craziness and road tripped from Atlanta to Charleston, South Carolina for 4 days. We were gifted a discounted stay from Southern Charm Glamping, a family-based business that offers unique accommodation just outside of historic downtown Charleston.

We arrived at the gate to this secluded, lush property just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston and 20 minutes from Foley Beach. On the property, we found two completely renovated vintage airstreams, and we stayed in one called “Casa Luna”, which you can book here. Even if there had been another guest staying on the property, we would’ve still felt like we had plenty of privacy and space.

The airstream sat on a manicured lawn with tiki torches and lounge chairs. I couldn’t help but feel an equal sense of calm and childlike giddiness wash over me as I grabbed the bags from the car and began making this place our home for the next two nights.

Upon walking inside, I was instantly stunned at the cleanliness and attention to detail. I’ve found that the way airstreams tend to be remodeled and designed are usually hit-or-miss. This one was definitely a hit! Jessica, the co-owner of Southern Charm Glamping, really had an eye for interior design and making sure the space felt updated and modern without losing all of its vintage touches. I soon found myself feeling right at home. The airstream was even bigger on the inside than we originally thought and it included everything we could have needed for our stay.

Here were some of my favorite details:

  • the outdoor string lights

  • the wooden cabinets

  • the teal fridge & microwave

  • extra storage with blankets

  • the coffee bar & maker

  • the cute throw pillows & decor

One of the biggest questions I had when choosing a glamping experience was “is there a shower?”

I know, I know— but this girl has gotta feel clean. Thankfully, this airstream had a surprisingly roomy bathroom, complete with complimentary shower products, towels, etc. As expected, the shower itself was a bit of a squeeze but the water pressure and the temperature was perfect.

Because of all we had planned for the trip, we didn’t get to take advantage of the communal area as much as we would have liked. On the property, there were also picnic tables, a hammock, a fire pit, a grill, and more.

Mark, Jessica’s husband, used to be a Charleston tour guide, so he gave us a huge list of recommendations as we set off to explore the city the following morning. Before we left, he also gave us a tour of another one of their larger properties nearby, a family cabin. The entire trip, we felt more than welcome and our hosts were extremely hospitable. I would recommend a stay with Southern Charm Glamping for any occasion, anniversary or not!
